The Neighborhood
While living at what is now 137 Market Street William Cameron began building a house on the southwest corner of Market and Second Streets. In that house William Cameron opened Lewisburg’s first bank. Mr. Cameron’s wife did not like the bank being located in their house. So Mr. Cameron worked out a deal to lease the downstairs residence of the attorney from whom he had been renting and re-opened the bank at what is now 139 Market Street.

Across Second Street From 139 Market
Across the street at 136 Market Street is the Lewisburg Hotel. The hotel is the only one in Lewisburg to withstand the ravages of time and progress. Its plush carpeting, polished brass, and distinctive woods reflect the period in which a bawdy river town was being transformed into Victorian elegance. The present facility now combines a fascinating history with present day amenities and services. The Hotel is a popular place for fine dining and has a very popular bar.
